THE
THREE MAJORS
The three primary US credit reporting agencies
are Equifax, Experian, and
Transunion. Due to new legislation,
over the course of 2005 people are becoming
able to get one free report per year, regardless
of their state of residence.
OTHERS REPORTING
ORGANIZATIONS
The legislation applies to more reports
than just that, according to the January
21, 2005 issue of Medical Economics magazine.
In their financial update, they provide
enlightening information:
Thanks to the Fair and Accurate Credit
Transactions Act, you can now get free copies
of consumer reports that track your insurance
claims, check-writing, and medical history.
There's no centralized source for getting
all of those reports -- and many people
don't even realize that all these reports
exist. You can contact the companies individually
through their web sites to request your
free reports, presumably with the same roll-out
schedule as the free credit reports (west
coast available now, phasing eastward through
the year...) |
